Dr. Michael C. Gardiner is Associate Professor of Music in music theory at the University of Mississippi. He favors an open approach to materials, one that views the discipline of analysis as a set of design problems and solutions. His book, Hildegard von Bingen’s Ordo Virtutum: A Musical and Metaphysical Analysis was published in 2019 on Routledge, and his articles have appeared in Perspectives of New Music, Current Musicology, Asian Music, and Sonus.
