Department of Music
The University of Mississippi

Friends and Alumni

We are grateful to the many generous donors who have provided funding for needed equipment and special projects, and to those who have helped establish endowments for student scholarships and operational funds. We recognize that neither individuals nor institutions attain any real success alone. We at the University of Mississippi take very seriously our obligation to be good stewards of the generous support we receive, by giving our utmost to our students and to our other constituencies.

Donate to the Department of Music
Private donations help the Department of Music deepen educational opportunities, develop our students’ artistic skills, provide scholarships and outreach, and connect students’ classroom learning to real-world experience. To find out about the Department’s goals for growth, and to learn how you can be a part of that growth, contact Interim Chair Nancy Maria Balach at 662-915-7268 (nmbalach@olemiss.edu) or William Kneip, Associate Director of Development for the College of Liberal Arts, at 662-915-2254 (kneip@olemiss.edu).

Support Scholarships
The Patrons of Music was formed in 2004 to raise funds for scholarships for music students. Through the generosity of donors, the Patrons of Music organization is able to continue to fund scholarships each year.

Patrons’ levels of support:
Visionary: $1000 or more
Angel: $500
Maestro: $250
Benefactors: $100
Patron: $50

If you wish to assist the Patrons of Music by contributing to the annual Patrons Scholarship Fund directly and/or by contributing to the Patrons Scholarship Endowment, please fill out the printable mail-in form (PDF) or contribute online at the University of Mississippi Foundation. Your contribution will fund scholarships administered by the Department of Music, but the financial transactions (including receipt and acknowledgment of your tax-deductible donations) will be handled through the University of Mississippi Foundation.

For information on how to contribute to any of the other established endowments — or for information on establishing a new endowment — please contact Mr. William Kneip, Associate Director of Development for the College of Liberal Arts at (662) 915-2254, or kneip@olemiss.edu.

Alumni News

We are so proud to recognize our internationally acclaimed alumnus, Wesley Rogers, B.M. 1997, who graduated from our department with a degree in vocal performance. Since then he has made a career with his voice, which was described by the Czech magazine Opera Plus as, “built on a very good technical foundation, with a beautiful round tone and phrasing.”

Rogers will begin his 2014-2015 season with the Dayton Opera, in a concert of Russian repertoire. A frequent performer in Europe, he will also appear at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam as the Shepherd in Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex.

Recent concert engagements include Handel’s Messiah and Bach’s St. Matthew Passion with the American Bach Soloists, Britten’s War Requiem with Orchestra Seattle, Mozart’s Coronation Mass with EOS Orchestra, Bruckner’s Te Deum and Rossini’s Stabat Mater at the Mondavi Center, and a recital including Louis Gruenberg’s The Daniel Jazz at the Bard Festival.
